A smattering of the day’s heavy metal news in one convenient post…

Sweden’s legendary death metal outfit Vomitory have set April 26 as the release date for their new album Opus Mortis VIII. In case that title is unclear this will be Vomitory’s eighth studio record in their twenty-two year tenure. After the jump you can check out the album’s cover art and official track listing.

Sepultura, who are looking mighty old these days, have finished recording their forthcoming, as yet to be named album.  And as if the picture above doesn’t date them enough, Sepultura will cover Ministry’s Just One Fix and The Prodigy’s Firestarter on this record. Preceding the album’s release sometime in May, Sepultura will hit the roads of North America in what is described as a “massive” headlining tour in support of this, their first release on Nuclear Blast Records.

So yesterday we brought you news of a Danzig tour and today he’s announced two extremely unlikely supporting acts for the jaunt, SoCo’s DevilDriver and 2Cents. Weird, huh? Click here for the original post with dates and all that.

System of a Down is a band again and has announced the following dates for a North America tour:

May 10 - Edmonton, AL - Rexall Place
May 12 - Vancouver, BC - Rogers Arena
May 13 - Seattle, WA - Key Arena
May 15 - Mountain View, CA - Shoreline Amphitheatre
May 18 - Denver, CO - Comfort Dental Amphitheatre
May 19 - Albuquerque, NM - Journal Pavilion
May 22 - Las Vegas, NV - The Pear

I’m assuming, or perhaps recklessly speculating, that there will be more dates soon. Stay tuned for that.

Heard Onslaught’s new record, Sounds of Violence, yet? You should. But in the mean time, enjoy this video for the title-ish track, The Sound of Violence

I don't know what the hell's going on with Amaranthe. There are three vocalists. Three! One is a girl, no complaints there, the other belts out mighty power metal vox, and the third just screams. Too many chiefs or too much awesome? Let us know in the comments section.  Watch:

Hunger is off Amaranthe’s self-titled debut, slated for release on April 13.

Leviathan-- not the USBM band, the Colorado proggers-- have just released their fifth album, At Long Last, Progress Stopped To Follow.  Below you can check out a trailer for the album and more info about it here.

Finally, Poison will reunite with Bret Michaels and all the original members and, along with Mötley Crüe, co-headline tour this summer. Along for the crazy ass ride will be The New York Dolls supporting. Let’s hope Vince isn’t driving the bus, eh?  We’ll have more on this never.
